The Islamia University of Bahawalpur is a public sector university in Bahawalpur, Pakistan, which was originally established by His Highness Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi - V as the Jamia Abbasia in 1925. Jamia Abbasia was upgraded as Jamia Islamia in 1963.
The Jamia Islamia was converted into a Chartered University as “The Islamia University of Bahawalpur” in 1975, by the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab under “The Islamia University of Bahawalpur Act 1975”.The University has five campuses. Abbasia Campus, Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus and Khawaja Fareed Campus are located in Bahawalpur and two sub-campuses are situated in Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan.
