About College
Government Degree College of Special Education has been established through Annual Development Scheme 2005-06. This college became functional in 2006 in a rented building in Model Town A Bahawalpur. Recruitment to various non-teaching posts was made in 2006 whereas the first/pioneer batch of faculty joined in February 2007. Commencement of classes of F.A and B.A starts in March, 2007 with the first batch of 7 Hearing Impaired students. 2007-08 was the first academic session of the college. First Academic session was 2007-09.By the grace of Allah, the college shifted to its own building, spacious and beautiful campus of 40 kanals includes boys and girls hostels at the location of Jhangiwala road near Civil Hospital Bahawalpur in June 2014.Special Education is a field of studies especially designed to meet the educational needs of disabled children. This college is providing education to the three disabilities i.e. Hearing Impairment, Physically Handicapped and Visually Challenged. This college is providing free education up to degree level, free pick and drop, free cost of food and hostel accommodation, free medical checkup, and assessment of visual impaired, free wheelchair for physically handicapped students, free hearing aids for Hearing impaired students and stipend of 800/- subject to the 70% attendance.
